Guilt and vulnerability never looked so glamorous. The blazing red lights outside the train runway, set against sepia runway lights inside, between empty telephone call ringing, Maymay Entrata feat. Viktoria’s “Puede Ba” echoing song lyrics, and Nora Aunor’s famous “Himala” movie lines, the mood wasn’t eerie but a pull from reality – a whispering verge to insanity. Precious to look at, haunting yet nostalgic, a wounded past’s longing catching fire. Fernando Garcia’s Nighthawks collection at the Philippine Fashion Gala 2025 brought period razzle-dazzle dream and quiet glamour on a performance runway show like no other. While the collection’s cohesion was not its strongest suit, the drama unfolded as the ensemble’s story carried out vintage charm from one hustler’s look to another, like distinct society characters from an era remembered for its narrative style and understated class and grace.
