Dreams do come true for Veejay Floresca, from being a Project Runway super fan since the first season, and now the winner of the 21st season, making history as the first transgender to win on the design competition. Indeed, talent and determination go a long way in this longest-running reality show, her fierce authenticity is actually an industry skill, not the drama, though I’d like to think that the feud with the Estrada twins were scripted or production-induced. For her finale collection, Veejay remained excellent on brand by being inclusive and innovative from model selections, fashion forward designs, fabric choices, wearability, and the list goes on. Nonetheless, Veejay’s finale collection proved her design expertise and signature workmanship while striking the balance of exceeding the judge’s taste and expectations, as some would say an impressive strategy.

More than her competitive edge and LGBTQ+ representation, Veejay was already a household name in Philippine fashion scenery, and her design collections were already a staple, if not something to look forward to, in fashion show runways from 2013 to 2019.
From Philippine Fashion Week to Manila Fashion Festival, Veejay’s designs were always akin to dramatic flairs and contemporary silhouettes. Here’s a quick flashback:
